Job shadowing at the Petofi Literary Museum, Budapest.

On the first week of March (2-8/3) Varvara Tsaka, Maria Kalogeraki and myself traveled to Budapest for a job shadowing visit to the Petőfi Literary Museum.

Our first impression from Budapest was a fairytale feeling, walking atop the Buda castle hill and admiring the view towards the Pest side of the city. We were lucky to find the sunny, spring break in the heart of the winter and the warm welcome of our colleagues from the Petőfi Literary Museum.

Jobshadowing in Budapest, 6-11 August 2012 Liivi Rosenvald, Katrin Roositalu and Margit Kilter - three ladies from three small literary museums in South Estonia - were welcomed in Budapest on August 6 by the heat of 40 degrees, which probably marks the record of the air temperature in the country. For us it seemed a few degrees even higher due to the excitement about our very first trip to Hungary. So we took it as a good sign foreshadowing „hot“ (in every positive meaning of the word) days of grasping, saving and recording the aura, impressions, emotions, sights and all kind of information. We can assure now that we were not wrong! Which museums did we visit? - Petöfi Literary Museum - Endre Ady Memorial Museum - Hungarian National Gallery - Museum of Applied Arts - The exhibitions and activities of all the museums which took part in the Museum Quarters at Sziget Festival. What did we learn about the Petöfi Literary Museum (PLM)?

First Project meeting in Petöfi Museum, Budapest

First of all I would like to thank all the kind workers of the Petöfi museum for finding the time for us (we all know how busy are the days of the people in the literary museums)! I really enjoyd your hospitality and ofcourse also the beautiful Budapest! The Petöfi Museum was also an inspiring place! Estonians did learn a lot and we will have a meeting on Thursday, Nov 10, to present all the topics and ideas shared in this first meeting to all of our collegues in the literary museums in Estonia.
I think our first meeting was very fruitful. We all had agreed in topics about the project before we propound the project application, but there was many aspects we needed to talk through.
So, here is the summary of our meeting and the most important conclusions.
